Flying Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi said after the Flying Eagles rounded off training in Germany that the squad’s winning mentality remains as high as ever, just like in their days with the Golden Eaglets.

Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidiebere Nwakali, Bernad Bulbwa, Musa Yahaya and others were part of the 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Cup winning team and they form the bulk of the squad to the Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

“The mentality of this team right from the U-17 level is that we play all our matches like a Cup final and win them.

“We know the expectations back in Nigeria are that we win the World Cup. This has not put us under any unnecessary pressure, but rather it has boosted our confidence so that we will return to Nigeria as world champions.”
