ABUJA — All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has rescheduled its State Houses of Assembly and National Assembly Primaries in Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi States for December 9 and 1, 2014.
APGA National Chairman Chief Victor Umeh, explained in a letter, yesterday, in Abuja that the change in date was due to logistic reasons.
Recall that the party had earlier fixed state Houses of Assembly primaries for November 20, while that of House of Representatives was fixed for November 26.
The letter dated December 1, 2014 and addressed to the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Professor Attahiru Jega and copied the Resident Electoral Commissioners in the three affected states read; “due to the failure of logistics arrangements we are forced to reschedule the primaries in Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu States to December 9th and 10th respectively.
Meanwhile, Abia State chapter of the party yesterday said it had successfully completed its ward delegates’ congress in the 184 wards of the state.
According to the chairman of the State Ward Congress Panel, Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, a total of 552 delegates were elected from the 184 wards through direct primary.
“On the whole, congresses were conducted in 184 wards of the state and a total of 552 delegates emerged through direct primaries,” Okoye said.
He commended the leadership, members and all stakeholders of the party in state for their “cooperation, peaceful and orderly manner.”
….Abia PDP releases result
ABIA State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has released the result of the House of Assembly primaries held last Saturday with only seven old members of the 24-member House winning tickets to re-contest.
Three of the seven old members are women. They are Dr. Kate Maduako, Aba Central constituency, Mrs. Blessing Nwagba of Aba North and Mrs. Blessing Iheasimuo who replaced her late husband in a bye-election in August for Aba South state constituency.
Other old members are Chukwudi Ogele for Isiukwuato State constituency, Martin Azubuike for Isiala Ngwa North, Tony Nwaubani for Ukwa West and Emeka Ejiogu for Umuahia North constituency.
