‘Flower Girl’ goes to cinemas

Being a romantic comedy that is bound to raise the bar in Nollywood, Flower Girl is due to premiere on  Wednesday, February 13,at Silverbird Cinemas, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The film features Bikiya Graham-Douglas as the fashion freak Stella, a friend to shy Kemi(Damilola Adegbite), a florist who  sold her ‘heart to love’ and consequently got disappointed  and rejected by her boy friend, Umar(Chris Attoh).

Produced by African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA,  winner, Michello Bello, ‘Flower Girl’ tells the story of ‘love lost’  and won in the city of Lagos. Kemi dreams of becoming one of the happy married couples she sees every day. Her long time lawyer boyfriend,  Umar has promised to marry her when he gets a promotion, but she is increasingly getting impatient. Still living with her embarrassing parents, she spends her nights in her room, planning the wedding she hopes to have some day.

Then comes the day she has been waiting for.  Umar has got the promotion. Ironically,  when she arrives expecting a big proposal, he breaks up with her instead.  Devastated, Kemi goes on a delivery and unable to see where she is going through her tears of grief, she is hit by a car.

Shot on location in Lagos, the movie billed to premiere on Wednesday, February 13, address the  travails of young women who are in a hurry to get married, thinking only about about their perfect wedding day, and not the lomg term commitment required by both individuals to make it last.  The producer says, the movie will hit the big screens on Valentine’s Day. There are also plans to premiere the movie in Accra and in the UK.
