Police foil attempt on doctor’s life

UGHELLI—Ughelli  ‘A’ Police Division, Delta State, yesterday, foiled an assassination attempt on the life of a medical doctor (name withheld) attached to the Mariere Memorial Central Hospital, Ughelli.

The Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Chris Sorgbara, said the Police acted on a tip-off and arrested the suspect at the official quarters of the medical doctor at about 5.30pm, yesterday.

Sorgbara said the suspect was found with a locally made pistol and live ammunition. He appealed to the people of the area to always furnish the Police with information on criminal activities.

Reiterating the preparedness of the division to deal with criminals in the area, he said Ughelli was not a safe haven for them.
