Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Nigeria’s No 1 noodles brand, Indomie Instant Noodles have been commended for its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative towards educational development of students at the Faculty of Food Science, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, when it granted the post graduate scholarship to MSC Nutrition students .
Professor Tunde Oguntona, a lecturer at the Faculty of Food Science, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and the beneficiaries of the Indomie MSC Nutrition scholarship made this recommendation during a courtesy visit to the company’s headquarters in Surulere, Lagos.
Professor Oguntona who is also the coordinator of the Indomie MSC Nutrition scholarship scheme expressed his gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the University authority to the company while using the opportunity to inform the company that the first set of awardees of the scheme will be graduating in the next few weeks after successfully completing their studies and satisfactorily carried out their research work.
He revealed that the scholarship offered to the students have really made a huge difference in the academic performance of the students and most importantly, the research grant helped the students to carry out extensive research work which is unprecedented in the history of the programme.
He then asked one of the students; Adebiyi Adefunke Temitope to share with the management of Dufil the findings of her research work entitled “Assessment of Food Consumption and Nutritional Status of Mothers and their n 5 Children in Edo State” which she said involves getting physical measurement, clinical assessment vis-a-vis their economic background.
On behalf of Dufil Prima Foods, the group Human Resources Manager, Chief Kola Hassan, explained that the company is investing in education not only in the Post Graduate level but also in Primary, Secondary and Undergraduate levels as a way of giving back and also to enhance the future of the nation as the company believes so much in the country.
