The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has restated that no local government area in Borno or any territory in the North East Zone is being occupied by the Boko Haram sect.

Borno State government said, on Monday, it would re-open public secondary schools next week, two years after they were closed due to Boko Haram insurgency.
The state’s Commissio-ner for Education, Inuwa Kubo, said in Maiduguri that Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, occupying the schools had been relocated to allow for resumption of academic activities.

Boko Haram was on Sunday blamed for an attack on motorists in northeast Nigeria which left one person dead and underlined the Islamist group’s continuing security threat to civilians.

Governor Ibrahim Geidam of Yobe State has said about N20 billion was needed to reconstruct the destroyed homes of Boko Haram victims before they could go home.
