According to William Shakespeare; “there is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken to the flood, leads to fortune; omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries”.

The Holy Bible recorded the story of a man called Job, a Chaldean, from the land of Uz, around the present day Iraq [known as Far East in the days of old]. God Himself attested to his character in Job 1:8 “that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fear God, and eschew evil”. For this reason probably, God blessed him tremendously. But typically to its work, the devil brought great calamity on this upright man when in just one day, according to the Bible; Job lost everything he had, including all his children – seven boys and three girls.

IT is leadership that defines a people. A people, nation or state draws its inspiration from its leader. Thus, a state is invariably a reflection of the quality of its leadership. On meeting the former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, I was definitely taken by his coolness, humility, patience, willingness to listen and tolerance for alternative and even opposing views.

The plethora of cases emanating from the 2015 Elections demands for total electronic voting system as the only panacea for credible, free and fair election in Nigeria. The election of 1993 that gave rise to the JUNE 12 debacle though adjudged credible and fair still had some concerns, which gave room for the obnoxious annulment that moved our dear country backward.

I have always believed that the government has a responsibility to educate its citizens and this, apart from free tuition includes; provision of standard equipment to facilitate training and a good remuneration for teaching staff. However, most often than not, the resources available are not enough to meet this obligation and that is where the responsibility of the citizenry comes in.
