BOKO HARAM seem to be gathering the confidence of a thing that has come to stay in Nigeria. They have grown from a small cell of violent persons,to a big international terror group within the last six years, and even more with their allegiance or affiliation to ISIS. They have won and lost caliphates within Nigeria, and are very committed to wasting the blood of more people in this country.

AS it so often happens, the best hope for answers to thorny issues is by relying on history. To that effect, I would like to turn to the Greece financial quagmire, her negotiation for a bailout by the eurozone authorities which has been very intense, if not controversial,and incidentally has a parallel to the recent situation where some financially insolvent states in Nigeria have requested for and received approval by president Buhari for a similar financial bailout.

BEING a non-Catholic, I have not always followed nor even read papal encyclical until now. And was it an enormous surprise? The 184 page Pope Francis encyclical was a very powerful piece: extremely well written and with the authority of a great leader. It has great wisdom; it is sensitive, insightful, and lucid even when discussing very scientific and technical subjects.

THE tragedy of our socio-political reality is that clowns and pretenders now see themselves as the new agents of history. This sad commentary is further exacerbated by our convoluted socio economic quagmire which affords these persons and visionless lackeys the opportunity to pontificate and perhaps enjoy a joke or two at our expense.
