THE choice of former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, as the vice- presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has been greeted with widespread optimism among Nigerians of various standings.

I ceased taking Pastor Tunde Bakare seriously ever since he lied against the Holy Ghost by prophesying (wrongly) that “Let me tell you the truth by the spirit of God, neither OBJ, Atiku, IBB and this tall one, Buhari are part of the new. They are part of the old that is decaying. That old one is passing away. The new is emerging and these ones are not part of that new.”

WE have a lot of dreamers in Nigeria, that on its own is no problem. The problem is: while others are making conscious and deliberate efforts to make their dreams a reality, we are here wishing it to happen.

AN Urhobo folklore relates the story of how the legendary tortoise (he is always invariably involved in mischievous stories in our folklore) had an amorous relationship with a married woman and was caught red-handed. He was beaten to pulp, and tied to a stick in the village square. The day was a market day, and the women going to the market at dawn, passing through the village square, rained abuses on tortoise. They spat on him and even threw sand on him as a final act of humiliation. Tortoise was finished.
