The President of the Microsoft office division, Kurt DelBene yesterday at the company’s annual Worldwide partner conference (WPC) in Canada disclosed that 1 billion people globally now use Microsoft Office.

The software giant, Microsoft Corp. yesterday in collaboration with Perceptive Pixel Inc. (PPI) announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Microsoft will acquire PPI, a recognized leader in research, development and production of large-scale, multi-touch display solutions.

With the two African countries including Uganda and Egypt failing to scale the hurdle to final round in the software category design competition in the ongoing Imagine cup software competition, a global competition that challenges students to use technology to solve the world’s toughest problems, six countries including Greece, Japan, New Zealand, Portugal, Taiwan and Ukraine are currently jostling to final round.

As more Nigerians, especially the Nigerian students have been urged to vote for the Nigerian team en masse in the People’s Choice Awards in the ongoing Imagine cup software competition, a global competition that challenges students to use technology to solve the world’s toughest problems, out of 106 projects in different categories currently showcasing in Sydney, Australia, 65% of all projects address health related issues, latest statistics from Microsoft have revealed.
