The recent postponement of zonal sittings of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review from November 2009 to next month has once again put a big question mark on whether the constitution amendment exercise which the National Assembly has embarked upon would be concluded within the life span of the present federal legislature.

Before its recent unity rally that produced a new executive, Edo State People’s Democratic Party PDP had been bogged down by multiple internal crises. But all that came to an end at the rally attended by stakeholders in the state .The new chairman, Mr Dan Orbih spoke on how the party plans to recapture the state from Action Congress AC. Excerpts:

The political tension in Edo state is heating up every day and as expected there is bitterness between the ruling Action Congress (AC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

FOR Mr. Benjamin Nnamdi Ekwueme, serving in the Imo State cabinet is not only a privilege but service to the people of his state. Ekwueme, an engineer, is Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, on Project Monitoring and Implementation, and was recently honoured by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) with fellowship awards.

Chairman Senate Committee on Works, Senator Julius Ucha was in Ebonyi State recently and fielded questions from newsmen on his committee’s oversight function as it pertains to Nigeria’s roads; the dredging of River Niger and the constitutional review.
