LAGOS — ACADEMIC activities will today resume in all the Federal and State Polytechnics nationwide following the suspension of the 81-day industrial action by the lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP.

Legal luminary and one of Nigeria’s foremost human rights activists, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) has stated that the present ASUU strike is of great concern to him. According to him; “the Federal Government has over the years consistently neglected to adequately our universities. We are involved in the present ASUU strike because ASUU is trying to re-build the universities, force the people in power to fund our universities.”

Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Professor Cordelia Agbebaku, has advocated the enactment of specific laws that will compel governments at all levels to implement the National Gender Policy in order to ensure the protection of women’s rights and gender equality in Nigeria.
