THE Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education, Nigeria, SSUCOEN, has declared that it has rejected the proposed implementation of the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, IPPIS, believed to have been put in place by the Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, for members of the Union.

Even as one tree is believed to not make a forest, at the least, “ It (One tree) can start a forest, as One step must also start each journey, said, it is up to every individual,” this dictum, as predicated on ‘The Power of One,’ forms the focus of this edition of the annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day, of the Corona Secondary School (CSS) Agbara, Ogun State, in her clear determination to rouse consciousness of the students and Nigerians in order that all may chase vibrant visions and be instrumental for change for the profound benefit nation.

Teaching practice is one of the basic requirements for the award of the National Certificate of Education (NCE) and education related degree courses. The programme, which lasts between six to 12 weeks, is a platform which allows education students to take up teaching in real setting thereby availing them the opportunity of putting into practice what has been learned in the lecture rooms.

Despite the crisis in the sector, new students in universities across the country have already begun the registration process to begin a new academic calendar while the incumbent calendar is being stalled by the 5 month old ASUU strike.

As call for a national dialogue has continued to heat the polity, students from various schools, who gathered last Thursday, at the Humanities Week of Loral International Day Secondary School, Festac, Lagos, also shared their mixed feelings on the national confab, in a mind-pulsating debate competition.
