The Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria, QSRBN, has threatened to prosecute foreigners practising the quantity surveying in Nigeria. QSRBN President, Mallam Husaini Adamu Dikko who stated this in Abuja, said the Board is already compiling the list of these expatriates and will soon commence their prosecution in the courts according.

The widely held view among built environment professionals is that the government has no business in direct housing production. To these experts, the government should only provide the enabling environment and allow individuals and the private sector to go into direct housing production.

ALTHOUGH Lagos is the smallest state in Nigeria, with an area of 356,861 hectares of which 75,755 hectares are wetlands, it has the highest population, which is over five per cent of the national estimate. The state has a population of 17 million out of a national estimate of 150 million. The UN estimates that at its present growth rate, Lagos will be third largest mega city in the world by 2015 after Tokyo in Japan and Mumbai in India.

The Federal Government should tell its agencies to make medium and long term plans to relocate their facilities which can be injurious to human life from residential areas. The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola made the plea last week when he visited the MRS Products Limited Tank Farm in Apapa which was gutted by fire.
