Controlling anger 2

One of the ways we can control our anger is by overlooking offences. Solomon counsels: “A wise man restrains his anger and overlooks insults. This is to his credit.” (Proverbs 19:11). Your busybody friend who is a news-broadcaster asks: “Do you know Ngozi says you are a cheapskate?” Simply reply: “Good for her.” Jesus says: “I do not accept praise from men.” (John 5:41). If so, neither should we accept insults but should ignore them.

Christians: Watch out for the firstfruits scam

Jesus says: “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’” (Mark 11:17)

This statement was true in the time of Jeremiah, who wrote it initially. It was true in the days of Jesus, who quoted Jeremiah. It remains true today, confirming it as a word of God. Jesus says: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35).

Doing greater works than Jesus

Jesus says: “He who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father.” (John 14:12). This statement has confounded many Christians. Very few are bold enough even to imagine doing greater works than Jesus. And yet, Jesus’ words cannot be broken. Some believers have done far greater works than Jesus. But we do not even realize it because we do not know what it means to do the works of God.

Who is afraid of Daddy-Freeze?

Nothing in recent memory seems to have affected the bank-balances of Nigerian pastors as Daddy Freeze’s exposure of the deception of tithing in the churches. Nigerian tithe-collecting pastors are up in arms, throwing every possible missile at him, including death threats. Jesus says: “Whoever desires to save his life will lose it.” (Matthew 16:25). Since Freeze’s exposure, tithe-collecting pastors have been spouting fire and brimstone, hopelessly trying to save their lives.

The essence of prayer

Jesus says we should pray and not give up. (Luke 18:1). But why do we need to pray? God says: “I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.” (Ezekiel 11:5). Why then do we have to tell God what he already knows? God does not only know all the thoughts we think, he even determines when we think them. Then why pray when God knows what we are going to say before we say it?

Don’t persecute Daddy Freeze: Tithing today is a scam

When Daddy Freeze identified tithing as a modern-day scam in a fascinating interview, I was also asked to weigh in on the same issue by Sahara Reporters. But I declined because I did not think it was necessary to add anything to what he said. However, I have changed my mind seeing that some church heavyweights have come out swinging at him in the bid to undermine his message and safeguard their illicit financial bottom line.

If no one has ever seen God and no man can see God and live, which God did Jacob speak to at Penuel? Jacob said: “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” (Genesis 32:30). How come Jacob did not die after seeing God? The same question applies to Moses: “The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” (Exodus 33:11). Which God did Moses speak to face to face?
