IBADAN—THE proscription of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Oyo State, has further deepened the political crisis between Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state who are opposed to his second term bid.

Former Governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, and a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Kamil Akinlabi, have individually condemned the said proscription, saying the governor
had acted beyond his power.

Speaking at different fora, Folarin, Ladoja said the action had clearly shown that the governor did it with ulterior motive.

Folarin said: “let me refer you to the constitution, go and read the section on industrial and labour disputes. Go to the exclusive legislative list and you will find the issue of labour and industrial list and go to the concurrent list
and tell me if you can find anything like that there.”

Akinlabi, who also faulted the action of Governor Alao-Akala, said he had been using his (Akala) immunity with impunity and that the governor was very partial in proscribing the union.

He said: “Despite the fact that an Oyo High Court had ruled that Oloja of Ago Oja title never existed in the ancient Oyo history and that the Appeal Court had ruled that the lower court judgment should be obeyed, Governor Adebayo Alao
Akala recently went to pay royal homage to Alhaji Ganiyu Ajiboye in Isale Oyo without visiting theAlaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.”
