LAGOS—Ahead of the 2010 elections, two religious leaders, Venerable Nichola Udemba, Bishop of Christ Holy Church, Apapa, and  Rev. Joseph Okafor, the Lagos District Superintendent of  the Assemblies of  God, Nigeria, have tasked the citizenry to ensure credible polls.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos on the maiden edition of  Bethel 2010 Conference, tagged: Back to Bethel, Okafor urged politicians to allow the will of God to take place to avoid unnecessary bloodshed during  the polls.

Reverend Okafor explained that the conference, to be held at Assemblies of God Youth Camp, km 48 Lagos Ibadan Expressway from 16th to 18th September, was captioned Back to Bethel because of its unique reminiscence to Christian pilgrims.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary, at the Superintendency Headquarters, Olodi Apapa, weekend, Udemba said it had become imperative for both the leaders and the led to learn from the mistakes of the last 50 years and embark on the path that would redeem the country begin with the elections.
