chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Delta State, Peter Nwaoboshi, weekend, took a swipe at the Minister of Niger-Delta, Elder Godsday Orubebe, over what he called his regrettable actions.

He said: “His inordinate ambition to become governor of Delta State without due process of going into the primaries will only make him more miserable”.

Orubebe was reported to have said there was no congress which Nwaoboshi claimed brought him to power. The Delta PDP chair said indeed there was a congress in February 2008 under the supervision of officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. He said the minister, among several other people, congratulated him after he was sworn in as the state party chairman.

According to him, Orubebe’s rebuttal is because of his inordinate ambition to succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in the 2011 elections. “Who really is Orubebe in Delta politics? He is a small boy.

Just because he is desperate to become governor of Delta by all means, he said there was never a state congress because he knows the state party executive will not dance to his selfish tune of becoming the party flag bearer.

He and several other people were televised, which is with us, congratulating me. Why is he denying that fact now? I will tell you, Orubebe is no name in Delta politics. He thinks because he is a minister, he can lord it over anybody.

This is Delta State. If indeed he is popular, let him come to the field for the primaries and face the electorate. This, he does not want to do, because he knows that he would fail woefully.

“He is there in Abuja and wants to dictate what goes on here in Delta State. That will not happen because this is Delta State, not just any state. He is power drunk. It is as simple as that.

He is over ambitious and when somebody is over ambitious, there is nothing he cannot do, like denying the fact or rewriting the fact which is what he is trying to do”, he said.
