Jos—Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has congratulated Muslims in the state on the successful completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast, calling for prayers for continued peace in the state.

The governor, in a message by his spokesman, James Mannok, urged them to sustain the virtues of holiness and self-restraint exhibited during the holy month.

He called for prayers from all citizens of different faiths for peace to reign in the state, especially as political activities heighten ahead of coming elections.

Speaks on 2011 polls

The governor advocated a change of attitude towards politics, urging politicians and their supporters to shun bitterness and other ills currently associated with politics.

He assured the people of a level playing ground in the electoral process, advising politicians to be sportsmanlike in their attitude to politics.

Many Muslims in the state capital took advantage of the postponement of the Eid-el Fitr to today to make last minute purchases for the celebrations, yesterday.
However, some said they did not fast yesterday because they learnt of the postponement late.
