Eid-el-fitri: Minister tasks Muslims on security

By Kingsley Omonobi

ABUJA—Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina Waziri, has congratulated muslims on the completion of the Ramadan Fast and urged them and Nigerians in general to make the Eid-el-Fitr celebration as crime free as possible.

In a message to the faithful on Sallah, the minister said the issue of security should not be left to law enforcement agents alone, since it was easier for the people to identify undesirable elements among them.

He alerted that hoodlums would always take advantage of the lax disposition of people during festive periods to carry out their nefarious activities and, therefore, charged people to be conscious of their personal security.

The minister further charged Nigerians to use the occasion of the Eid El Fitri to pray for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections, adding that it had become incumbent on all Nigerians to do their bits towards ensuring stamping out electoral violence and malpractice.
