MAIDUGURI—MEN of the Borno State Police Command recently arrested a 10-man gang for alleged oil bunkering and vandalisation of oil pipelines of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, along Biu-Gombe highway.
Vanguard gathered that the suspects were apprehended while siphoning petroleum products from the broken pipes, even as a truck with number plate XA 588 KWA, loaded with the product, was taken into custody by the Police.
Similarly, a VW Golf car with number plate KA 795 KAA with over 100 empty jerry cans, which are believed to be used in loading the stolen fuel, was recovered from the suspects.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of the area DSP Ade Buba, who led the arrest, said a water pumping machine, metal objects and other items were used by the suspects.
