UGHELLI — FORMER Governorship aspirant in Delta State, Mr. Sunny Onuesoke, has enjoined Nigerians to shun practices capable of breeding disunity amongst the various ethnic groups in the country.

Onuesoke, who was reacting to a statement credited to the President General of Okpe Union, Chief Dick Gberevbie, reiterated that the Okpe clan was part and parcel of the Urhobo ethnic nationality and described the media report as misleading. He said the Okpe clan was an integral part of the Urhobo nation.

The President General of Okpe Union, Chief  Gberevbie, had in a recent media report said that the Okpe were not part of the Urhobo  nation.

He held that Okpe was like any other clan amongst the 23 clans that made up the urhobo as an ethnic nationality in the country. He commended the Orodje of Okpe for his prompt reaction to the said media report.

“The Okpes like, the Udus, Ughellis, Agbarhos, Agbarhas, Ewus, Arhavwariens, Okparabes, Ughievwens, Ogharas, Idjeres, Uvwies and others speaks urhobo language with different dialect but understands themselves,” he explained.

Speaking further, he appealed to the people of the nation to remain united and focus in the quest to build a stronger urhobo nation for the future generation.
