Stakeholders to mark 50 Years of ICT

An ICT stakeholders event to commemorate the Golden jubilee celebration of the country and the start off of ICT in the country is already underway.

This event according to organisers will also witness the launch of a publication that will celebrate the roles played by key actors in the sector in the past 50 years. It is titled ICONs Of ICT: 50 Years Anniversary Edition.

Over 60 men and women have been listed for profiling and indexing of their contributions to ICT and national development in the past years.

Already, key personalities have agreed to speak on the topic: ICT Development In Nigeria ; 50 Years After.

The speakers include Dr Ernest Ndukwe, regarded by many as the most successful telecommunications administrators in the country’s history and Chief Olawale Ige, the oldest surviving actor in the ICT sector and Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

They will look at the place of ICT in achieving Nigeria ’s bid to be among the 20 most developed nations in the world.

Their keynote presentation will be followed by a discussion by a panel of technocrats and knowledgeable ICT players who would assess the Nigerian ICT sector in the last 50 years and proffer solutions on how the country can achieve the mark of other developed nations.
