Elder Oyewole hails South-West teams

Former Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan chairman Elder Bode Oyewole  has showered encomium on South-West teams for recording good results in the just concluded Premier and National Division leagues, reports Kate Obodo

A statement from Oyewole reads, ”With great pleasure, satisfaction and joy, I wish to heartily congratulate all football clubs in the South_West for recording varying but commendable results in the just concluded Premier and National division leagues.

Particularly worthy of commendation is the promotion of Crown FC, Ogbomoso from the murky waters of the Pro-league to the more dignifying elite Premier league. The feat becomes more note_worthy as graduating from the pro-league is no mean task judging by the notable and desperate-to-gain-promotion attitude of clubs campaigning there.

“I particularly wish to recognize and appreciate the contribution of the late Chairman of the club, Chief Olayiwola Olagbemiro, who laboured assiduously to ensure this hard_won promotion. I also congratulate the Oyo State FA , players, technical crew and management of the team for this feat that has increased the number of south-western teams playing in the elite Premier league.

Same goes for Oyo State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Makanjuola Ayoola. Also, I sincerely wish to congratulate Sunshine Stars Int’l FC of Akure, for clinching a continental ticket to fly Nigeria ’s flag in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“Furthermore, I wish to salute the successful struggle of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan in escaping the dreaded drop from the Premier league.

The collective determination of all stakeholders particularly that of the coaches, players and management that made this possible deserves applause. May the sun of 3SC never go down again.

My final appeal is to the Ogun State government and the management of Gateway Football Club of Abeokuta. They should ensure that Gateway Fc does not stay more than this season in the National Division League .
