FORMER Vice President Atiku Abubakar said yesterday that governor Murtala Nyako cannot sit in his office and dictate to the people on how a party like the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will be run.
Atiku who noted that the PDP as a party belongs to the people of Adamawa State and not the governor, said, “No individual can sit in the comfort of his office to dictate how a mass-based party like the PDP should be run”.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was reacting to media reports credited to Governor Murtala Nyako that he, Atiku and the new Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Gilbert Nathaniel have not been duly registered back in the Adamawa PDP.

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja yesterday from his office, he said, “both Speaker Gilbert Nathaniel and I are foundation members of the Peoples Democratic Party. We have returned to the party as law abiding members and citizens of Nigeria and in full compliance with all the provisions of the party constitution relevant to our return. The PDP belongs to the people and not an individual”.
