Chief Adeboye Onigbinde is one man whose views are widely respected in sports circles. The CAF and FIFA Committee member obviously is not impressed with the Nigerian league and the status it claims.

There are 20 Premier League clubs competing for honours every season but the former Super Eagles coach said there are no true professional clubs in the country.

According to him, the clubs lack what makes it to be a professional club. The ex Shooting Stars manager said none of the clubs can boast of a feeder team where young players can be groomed. He stressed that he once advised some club owners on the issue and they said they are still battling with funding of the major team and do not have fund to maintain a feeder team.

“I told them that it was penny wise pounds foolish as they would have used money raised from the sales of players to other teams to maintain their clubs but they still refused to listen”, he said.
