Maiduguri—The General Officer Commanding 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Yusuf, has commended the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, particularly Borno State correspondent’s chapel, for their role in counter-insurgency war in the North-East.

The GOC gave the commendation when the executive of the Correspondent Chapel paid him a courtesy call at the Maimalri Barrack, Maiduguri, yesterday.
General Yusuf said by the time the history of counter-insurgency war was written, the role of the media would be written in gold, adding that the relationship that exists between the military and the media in Borno State was outstanding.
Earlier in his address, Chairman of the Borno State Correspondent’s Chapel, Alhaji Haruna Dauda, who led the executive on the courtesy call on the GOC, said: “We have to support the Nigerian military in the war against Boko Haram, as we don’t have any country.”
