AKURE—THE opposition party in Ondo State, PDP yesterday blamed the Ondo State government for the suspension of the license given to the state University of Science and Technology ,OSUTECH, by the Nigerian Universities Commission, NUC.

According to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Adeyemi Adedipe “it is not a surprise to the people of this State who had watched helplessly the activities of the Mimiko administration. It was a predictable result of an administration that had not only been unconstructive since its inception, but also rudderless, lackadaisical, unfocused, lethargic and above all pedestrian in its attitude to governance.

“The vision of the Agagu administration in establishing the University is to provide a specialized institution that would guarantee the production of a set of young Nigerians who will be equipped to be of essence in the quest to attain the much desired technological revolution that will lift the economy of our State and Nation to the next level.”

“In fact students were set to commence studies as at the time this administration came on board, but the lack of depth and concrete understanding on the part of Dr  Olusegun Mimiko and his co-travelers put paid to an otherwise solid investment for the future of this State.

“ It is pertinent to point out that faculty buildings and hostel accommodation for the students were already 70% completed before the exit of Dr Agagu’ s administration but all that is being left to waste by a government that feels reluctant to invest in education.

“This license withdrawal by the NUC is indeed a wake up call to the people of this State to realize that our development has not only been arrested but in fact in an indefinite detention, certainly this time shall pass away”.
