THE National Directorate of Employment, NDE,  Lagos has commenced another round of Youth Employment training through its Basic-National Open Apprenticeship Scheme Programme.

This is in line with one of the core mandates of the directorate which is to design and implement programmes to combat mass unemployment.

A statement by the NDE Lagos coordinator, Mr Adebowale Ologbenla indicated that the on-going Youth empowerment training was taking place in different training centers in the 20 Local Government Areas in Lagos State.

Mr. Ologbenla explained that no fewer than 2,500 Youths were being trained in Cosmetology consisting of soap-making, insecticides, Air-fresheners, Germicides, perfume jelly, etc, as well as Barbing, Bead-stringing, GSM phone repairs and Confectionaries.

The programme as explained by Mr Ologbenla, was slated to last for three months which include both theory and practical training.

The State coordinator highlighted that the NDE Lagos collaborated in the four core programme with the state government, NGO’s, churches, mosques and individuals.

The empowerment programme is being executed in all the states; including the FCT.
