UGHELLI — THE Police in Ughelli, yesterday, shot dead one armed robbery suspect, while two others escaped with bullet injuries.

Vanguard gathered that luck ran against the armed robbery suspects in Aro Road in the Ughelli metropolis at about 11:00 p.m. while  escaping in a motorcycle.

A reliable source, who pleaded anonymity, said one of the armed robbers with a cut-to-size gun fell-off the motorcycle,  was apprehended and beaten by an angry mob until police and Ughelli Vigilante teams arrived the scene.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ughelli ‘A’ Division, Mr. Chris Sorgbara, said his patrol team ran into the armed robbery suspects as they were being given a good fight by their victim.

He said the armed robbery suspects had tried to rob a medical doctor when they were caught.

Sorgbara said one of the suspects was shot dead in a shoot-out with the police, adding that other members of the gang escaped with bullet injuries.

Speaking further, he said the police in the area were determined to bring crime to zero level and appealed to members of the public not to hesitate to give the police useful information that could lead to the tracking down of criminals.
