The actor has been battling leukaemia and prostate cancer for some months now, but lack of funds hampered his treatment. However, help came the ailing actor’s way as colleagues, friends and fans rallied around to raise the needed funds for him.
Narrating how she got involved in the campaign to save Sadiq’s life, spearheaded by the likes of ace broadcaster, Soni Irabor, Chief Kenny Martins, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin and Azuka Jebose, Mabel said she had known the actor for over 32 years as a colleague and a friend.
According to Mabel, she was touched when she heard about Sadiq’s condition, while she was in the United Kingdom. “When I came back to the country, I rushed to his home to see what I can do to support him. There I saw Soni Irabor, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin. To me, it was very important that I find a way to help out because I have known Sadiq for over 32 years,” she narrated.
While describing the ailing actor as a great producer, seasoned broadcaster and a friend, Mabel said she was not ready to lose Sadiq to the cold hands of death.
She praised the team that coordinated the #SaveSadiqDabaProject, saying they worked round the clock to ensure that he was flown abroad for medical treatment. “I am very happiness that the SaveSadiq Project was a very successful one. The fact that we rallied around him, gave him courage that he would survive. It was a great team, we all saw off to the Airport and waited for him to board the plane. The team walked round the clock to ensure that he was flown into the UK for treatment.
