WARRI — AS the race for the 2011 general elections gathers momentum in Delta State, a governorship aspirant, Prof. Saliba Mukoro, has assured that his administration will grant all indigent students of the state free and qualitative education, adding that he will resuscitate all dead industries to create jobs for the unemployed.
Prof. Mukoro, who said people were too intimidated to challenge the status quo in the state, said that he will run for the governorship of the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, adding that it is the most powerful party in Africa and he intends to fight from within the party.
He expressed regrets that Delta State is so rich but the people were wallowing in abject poverty due to bad leadership, adding “the Saliba Mukoro Campaign Organisation is on a mission to free Deltans from the iron grip of the Ibori/Uduaghan dynasty.â€
He said though he had been away from the country, but was been in touch with events and happenings at home and denied rumours that he is being sponsored by Chief Great Ogboru. He added that he has come to change things for the better and will fulfill all his promises and will not run away when the chips are down.
In a statement titled “Change that we Needâ€, Mukoro said: “we must put a stop to the old order and chart a new beginning, rebuilding and renewing of our beloved state and set its political life on a new course for a better future.â€
“After 11 years of politics of promising everything and delivering nothing, politics of settlement and appeasement, politics of carry-go, which has created widespread cynicism among our people, we believe strongly that a change is quintessential,†he added.
