Former Nigerian International, Awala Jumbo has tipped former President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Dan Ngerem, as a better candidate for the post of Special Adviser on Sports to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Jumbo told Sunday Vanguard sports that someone like Ngerem was worthy for the position based on his wealth of experience in sports administration, adding that the Imo-born businessman has what it takes which he exhibited as AFN President.

“I don’t see the person being speculated as the right person. People like Dan Ngerem, Adokiye Amiesimaka and others who have creative ideas on sports should appointed be instead.”, he said, stressing that “This is the time to look for young people with broad and moral minds who will bring ideas that will help us”.

According to Jumbo, “this is not the time to pick  people because of their name or figure in the society. The country should think of choosing someone that will give the president the right advice on Nigeria’s sports.

“Ngerem is more qualified for this post and if he is not given, it should be given to Amiesimaka
who also has the quality to deliver,” Jumbo said.
