The political battle to give Northern that part of the country a new crop of leaders who would pay particular attention to checking the region’s backwardness has intensified as the Northern Youth Movement for Positive Change announced, yesterday it would mobilize 50 million youths and the underprivileged voters for the 2011 general elections.
Speaking at a strategy meeting with another group, the Voice of the Electorate, in Abuja, NYMPC’s President, Alh. Isiaka Babanagode, said Northern Nigeria was the most under-developed region of the nation, in spite of the many years the North ruled the nation, due to bad leaders.
“We are here to put our heads together and agree on what will be the way forward because we are tired of leaders who pay lip service to our development.
“In spite of the many years that the North has ruled this nation, the North is the most backward region in the whole country. This is a fact. Just travel round the North and your would see what I am talking about.
