KEBBI State government, in collaboration with UNICEF, has flagged off its maternal and child health week campaign, disclosing that it is targeting one million women and children in the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week, MNCHW, for immunisation.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Usman Kambaza, who flagged off the programme, also stated that the occasion was aimed at promoting the health of pregnant women and children.
He told the journalists that about 700 health personnel will partake in the one-week exercise that will cover the 222 wards in the state.
According to him, the bi-annual event will enable the state deliver high impact interventions through the existing or expanded outreach services for mother, newborn and children’s survival.
He implored people in the state to give maximum support to the personnel.
