ENUGU— Ezeagu General Assembly, an umbrella cultural association of the people of Ezeagu Local Government Area of  Enugu State, has summoned the three lawmakers representing the area at the National and State Assemblies to give account of their stewardship since they were given the mandate to represent the constituency.

Those summoned included the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, representing Enugu West senatorial zone, Chief Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi, Chairman of the House Committee on Banking, representing Ezeagu/Udi federal constituency and the lawmaker representing Ezeagu constituency at Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr. Paul Anikwe.
Lawmakers to appear 7 August

The Assembly said the lawmakers were expected to appear before the constituents 7 August 2010 to explain to the people what they had been able to do with the mandate given them since they were elected to their present positions.

According to the group, this is to determine if their mandate should be renewed for another term or not.
In separate letters to Senator Ekweremadu and the two lawmakers dated 7 July 2010, the President of Ezeagu Assembly, Prince Richard Ozobu,  stated that the people of the area deserved to be  acquainted of their achievements as their representatives at the National and State Assemblies.

Laments insensitivity of some political office holders
Prince Ozobu lamented  what he described as the insensitivity of some political office holders to the plight of the people, noting that none of the National Assembly members from their zone had taken time to explain to the people what they had been doing for them in Abuja.

“We only hear of constituency allowance in the media. We do not feel the impact of these constituency allowances in the zone.

“We need to know what they are doing in Abuja. It is our constitutional rights to know what our representatives are doing for us,” he added.
