LAGOS — THE Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has expressed relief over yesterday’s release of four members of the Lagos State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ,  including its Chairman,  Mr. Wahab Oba and their driver eight days after they were abducted by armed gang in Abia State, insisting that the increasing rate of kidnapping and other criminal activities is a direct consequence of failure of the leadership.

In a statement yesterday, the NLC called on the Federal Government to immediately put in place a mechanism for ending the booming kidnapping or hostage-taking rackets particularly in the South Eastern part of the country.

NLC in the statement by its Acting Head of Information, Mr. Onah Iduh,  said though the journalists had been released, the processes of investigation to ensure that the culprits were brought to book must continue.
