THERE were strong indications this week that the United States government has placed an indefinite travel ban, and revoked travel visas of some close members of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s administration over their inability to account for N70billion security vote of the late President.

The money was  allegedly spent during his over three months stay in Saudi Arabia where the late President went for medical treatment before his demise.

Presidency sources told Saturday Vanguard that some of the former members of the  late President’s kitchen cabinet that could not account for the money after the late President’s demise include the two core northerners.

They worked in tandem with a former NSA as well as another minister from the Middle Belt and took control of the security vote and deployed it towards checkmating the uproar that erupted in the nation following the continued absence of the late President which threatened to wreck the country’s democracy.

On assumption of office as executive President of the country and following investigations about the disappearance of such a huge amount of money without accountability, President Goodluck Jonathan, decided to ask how the money was spent.

However, sources said the investigations mellowed due to intervention of powerful forces who told Jonathan that his becoming President was made possible because of the cooperation of some of the persons he was investigating.

The source told Saturday Vanguard that one of the reasons President Jonathan sacked the previous cabinet was because some members of the kitchen cabinet could not account for the money.

The source,’While this was going on , the US continued with its investigations which revealed massive financial fraud in the way and manner the money was allegedly spent or disbursed , especially since there was no serious security crises during the interregnum caused by the late President’s absence, except the outbreak of the Jos crises when a specific amount of money was spent but which is a far cry from the N70billion.

Though some amount of the money, about N15billion, was discovered by the investigations to have been spent on some sundry security matters, the whereabouts of over N40billion of the security vote, is causing concern to both the Americans and the investigation team set up by Jonathan, the source said.

Asked what the initial investigation committee set up by Jonathan found out before its work was whittled down, the source said that when the arrowheads of the cabal were interrogated, they confessed to spending the money but disclosed that most of the N70billion was used for lobbying prominent Nigerians.
