Barring any further obstacle in the way of the providers, a new executive private lounge is expected to spring up at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as one had already taken off at the Lagos airport for relaxation of passengers and non-passengers alike.
Although some airlines, such as South African Airways, SAA and its Star Alliance counterpart, have subscribed to using the facility at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos for their Business and First Class passengers, the lounge
is different from the conventional ones, since economy class passengers and even those not travelling could use it.
General Manager of Gabfol Lounge Ltd, which operates the facility, John Ng, said work on Abuja airport leg of the lounge would have started by now, but for the delay in response to its request for space by the airport authorities.
He said the lounge at the Lagos airport, which was designed by Italian architect, Carmila Augustino, was conceptualised as part of efforts to modernise the Lagos Airport and give it the touch found in major airports of the world.
According to him, all a person needed to do to enjoy facilities in the lounge was to subscribe to its membership.
