AKURE—The Ondo State Government, weekend, said the criticisms of its projects by the main opposition party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was borne out of malice and alarm at the spate of developmental projects already put in place by the Dr Olusegun Mimiko’s administration within such a short time in office.

According to the state government, “within a space of 17 months, Ondo State is on a daily basis being transformed from a back-of-the-beyond state into a modern one by the present administration to the consternation of the PDP which, despite billions of Naira at its disposal, planned for over two years of its administration without anything to show for it.”

The state government in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi said: “The PDP, which is the main opposition party in the state, has in recent times engaged in criticisms of the state government, especially on the construction of roads within Akure, the state  capital, describing them as a waste of public funds and rather expensive.

Why those who have now suddenly become the devil’s advocate failed to convert the golden opportunity they had during their ill-fated tenure in office when the state benefitted from much more money than is now available by turning Ondo State into an el dorado of sorts?

“Is not  a thing of shame that the PDP has consistently shown, by its fly in the ointment action and infantile antics, that its leadership in Ondo State are still dazed by their defeat at the court of law which quashed their stolen victory and gave it to the democratically elected Governor of the people almost two years on?

Or how could a bunch of people wake up and start criticising what is being hailed from far and wide if not that they are afraid that given the developmental projects being put in place daily by a visionary administration, their chance of ever rigging election, which is their hallmark, is being sealed for ever?”
