ASABA— MEN of the Delta State Police Command have arrested nine persons for allegedly kidnapping two aged women after a fierce gun duel in the kidnappers’ hideout.

The women, one of them, the mother of the King-elect of Umukwata Kingdom were, however, rescued unhurt.

Confirming the arrest, State Police Public Relations Officer,  Mr. Charles Muka, said in Asaba yesterday,  “we arrested nine  and rescued  two kidnapped women.

“On 5 July 2010 at 8pm, Madam Afuenya Abaja and Mrs. Elizabeth  Ngeligu, were kidnapped by a 12-man gang at Umukwata in  Ukwuani Local Government Area  and through  information,  two of the suspects were arrested on July 9,” he said.
