Coach of Crime Busters Football Club, Edmund Ndukanma, on Wednesday commended the Nationwide League One (NLO) for organising a coaching course for coaches in the Nigerian football league’s third tier.

Newsmen report that the week-long “Coerver Coaching’’ course began at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja on Monday.

Ndukanma, who is currently attending the course and has a CAF “C’’ coaching licence, told newsmen the course would help to keep the coaches abreast of current trends in coaching.

He added that the course would also be of great value to the players under the coaches’ guidance.

“This is a great opportunity for coaches in the NLO, who are mostly grassroots coaches, to equip themselves better.

“Its impact will be felt more at the grassroots, in the area of development programmes and competitions in rural areas.

“It will act as a catalyst to the growth of the NLO competition next season, as it will improve technical and tactical play patterns of teams in the league,’’ the coach said.

Ndukanma, who also holds a diploma in coaching from the National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Lagos, advised the NLO Board to continue to finetune the competition for better performance.

Newsmen report that the “Coerver Coaching’’ course is being organised by NLO in collaboration with some FIFA partners.
