Onigbinde advises interim NFA to learn from past mistakes

By Kate Obodo
Former Super Eagle coach Chief  degboye Onigbinde has advised   the interim NFA to learn from  their predecessors so as not to repeat the same blunders  committed by them.

The former Shooting Stars Sports Club coach  urged  the present NFA board led by acting President Aminu Maigari to be more concerned with developing the country’s football system.
“The best one can do is to wait and see how events unfold. There has been certain decisions taken and we want to see how it will develop our football .

I personally think that what is important now is to rebuild our sport administratively and technically. Every aspect of our football should be rebuilt.

“Also  in this kind of assignment, it is important for  one to get the right materials, in order to carry out the work effectively. These people who have now taken over at the  NFA, let’s hope that they have learnt from their predecessors.

“The case of the national team is what you see in the military, the nation is always there and it is perpetual but people involved need to be changed.

But then just like what people  say on the Super Eagles, that they  are old legs, the question is, have we  prepared the younger ones to replace them,” he queried Continuing he said, “And that is why I have always hammered on development. If we have been developing players like we claimed to have, we would not be in this situation.

When we come to ‘age grade’ players, we know we are not sincere to ourselves and that is what is affecting the senior national team. That is why I said the present interim administrators should learn from the past administrators,  with that they will be able to know how to restructure our football.

The focus now should be on development. That was what Ghana did and you could see their brilliant performance at the World Cup”, he said.
