ABUJA-Human Rights Lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief Mike Ozekhome last night called on President Muhammadu Buhari to dust up the report of the 2014 National Conference for immediate implementation.

Ozekhome who apparently reacted to a presidency decision to consign the report to the dustbin of history said that the report was the panacea to the Nigeria’s many challenges.

He stressed that the report was a by-product of the articulated deliberations of the 492 delegates to the conference.

He added that the composition of the conference was a true reflection of the country’s structure, saying it wrong to jettison the report.

Ozekhome who was one of the delegates stated that over 600 decisions were taken at the Conference.

He said: “It is wrong for the president to say it will not implement the 2014 National Conference report, essentially it was not the originator. Government is a continuing. There are certain important national issues that should not be trivialized on the alter of politics. This report is one issue.

“A look at the composition of the conference would reveal that it adequately represented the first eleven of all strata of the Nigerian society, mostly elected or selected from the various different groups by their members.

“All the over 600 decisions, except a negligible few, that can effectively retool Nigeria, were arrived at by consensus by the 492 simulated.

“The current challenges Nigeria is facing were all discussed and solutions and recommendations preferred. I urge President Buhari to ignore sentiments and politics and dust up the report to help Nigeria.”

It will be recall that the conference which held between March and August 2014 was set up by former President Goodluck Jonathan to proffer solutions to the Nation’s political, social and economic problems.
