Kebbi begins campaign on measles

Measles cases spike as Nigeria, 4 others record largest outbreak in one year

BIRNIN KEBBI—FOLLOWING several cases of measles in the 21 local govern-ment areas of Kebbi State, the state government has embarked on campaign against the disease.

Briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, Commi-ssioner of Health, Umar Kambaza, disclosed that the campaign became necessary due to the reports his ministry received, which became a great concern.

He said about 1,134 personnel were recruited to take part in the campaign in 226 wards of the state.

On his part, Acting Executive Secretary, PHCDA in the state, Dr. Mannir Jega, said the state had recorded 656 cases in all the councils since 2015.

The campaign is expected to last till October.
