CIIN gets NUC support on insurance departments in universities

The National niversities Commission (NUC) has indicated its readiness to partner the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) in setting up more insurance departments in Nigerian Universities.
Professor Julius Okojie, NUC  Executive Secretary made this known whilst receiving a delegation of CIIN led by the President, Mr. Sunny Adeda at the NUC Headquarters, Abuja.

The courtesy visit, which came on the heels of a similar visit to the Vice Chancellor of Edo State University, Ekpoma, was part of efforts by the current leadership of CIIN in expanding the frontiers of insurance education in the country.  The Institute which has been canvassing its project 5000, engendering the injection of 5,000 graduates into the Insurance Industry, is intensifying efforts at ensuring that more insurance departments are established in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Prof. Okojie commended the Institute for its giant stride at increasing the insurance awareness in the country.  He also called for a round table discussion between the NUC and stakeholders in the insurance Industry on the modalities for actualizing the new quest, stating that the role of insurance in the national economy cannot be overemphasized.

The CIIN President expressed the institute’s appreciation to the NUC for the warm reception and the commission’s support in ensuring that the study of insurance is further entrenched in Nigerian Universities.
