UGHELLI — A socio-political pressure group, Ogbe Political Change, has enjoined Deltans to give Chief Ovie Omo-Agege the opportunity to govern the state in the forth coming 2011 general elections.

This is coming as a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Chief John Agabi, has berated Mr. Sunny Onuesoke, over  a recent media report credited to him on the adoption of Chief  Omo-Agege as the state Governor in 2011.

Agabi in his reaction to the  report credited to Onuesoke, former governorship aspirant in the state on the adoption of Chief  Omo-Agege by the Urhobo PDP caucus as their choice governorship candidate in the state for 2011, said Onuesoke does not have the political relevance in Urhobo politics.

“You may say that those who signed the communique do not carry that weight, but even those Onuesoke had referred to as carrying weight are also spent forces because they too have had their time to represent the Urhobo nation and they did not also perform well,” he said.

Reiterating that Omo-Agege was not adopted at that town hall meeting, Agabi explained, “it was stated in the communique that those present at that meeting should urge Omo-Agege to run for governorship.

It also appealed to other Deltans to urge Omo-Agege to run. Onuesoke is playing to the gallery and supporting his paymaster. He is of little political relevance in Agbarha-Otor and Ughelli North Local Government Area.”

Meanwhile, speaking during a meeting of the group in Ughelli North Local Government Area, its founder, Chief Ogbe Onokpite described Chief Omo-Agege as a man with  passion to govern the state.

Onikpite said  Deltans needed a credible candidate suck as Omo_Agege,  whose prudence and credibility has been tested be given the opportunity to rule Delta State, adding that he is known for his transparency.

“I know Chief Omo_Agege right from the United States of America. I have been with him and I know his worth. He is a man of few words, who if given the privilege to govern Delta State, everybody will no doubt heave a sigh of relief. I am not just saying it because I want him but because of the interest of Urhobo that I have seen in him”

He noted that  “for the past three years of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, nothing positive has been recorded to show Deltans, apart from the wide_screen television installed in the 25 local government areas of Delta State, which may cause accident or traffic jam in our roads, if care is not taken. The only change Deltans need is e Omo_Agege.” He charged Deltans, especially Urhobos to embrace the wind of change by supporting Omo_Agege.

In his remark, chairman of the Ughelli North Local Government Area chapter of the group, Mr. Felix Okoro urged  Deltans to ignore politics of money and not to allow their conscience to be bought over with peanuts.

He charged members to be focused,  steadfast to the course and ensure that the message of change is taken to the grassroot, adding  “apart from the Itsekiris, no other ethnic nationalities have enjoyed the dividends of democracy in the administration of Dr. Uduaghan.”
