ABUJA—Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, has directed SETRACO Nigeria Limited to fix the damaged portion on the East West Road near Kaima Bridge in Kolokuma Opokuma Local Government Area in Bayelsa State with immediate effect.
The minister’s directive followed a deluge of complaints which flooded his office by motorists, who are facing serious hardship plying the highway.
According to a statement by the ministry yesterday, “The attention of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani has been drawn to a damaged portion on the East- West Road less than 50 metres after Kaima Bridge in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
“According to the report, the damaged portion has caused untold hardship to the commuters. While urging commuters and other road users to be patient with the Federal Government, the minister has directed the contractor, SETRACO Nigeria Limited handling that section of the road to immediately fix it.”
He added that the contractor has confirmed immediate action, which is being monitored.
