THE two warring royal houses in the Deji of Akureland Chieftaincy stool in Ondo State have agreed to sheath their swords following the appointment of their representatives ahead of the selection of a new traditional ruler for the town.

One of ruling houses (Adesida) had kicked against the appointment of the head and secretary by the Ojijigogun ruling house and called on the Akure South council area to conduct fresh selection process.

To avoid further crisis, the Akure south local government invited the two warring royal houses and settled the differences by conducting fresh selection of the head of the royal house.

The Akure south local government supervised the election which was held at the council’s registry and the former Secretary of the Ruling House, whose turn is to produce a new Oba, Prince Soladoye Arosoye was appointed the Head of the House while Prince Victor Adegoroye was made the Secretary.

It would be recalled that the Ojijigogun Ruling House had last week elected Adegoroye as Head and Arosoye as Secretary at election that was shunned by a section of the Adesida Royal House.

With the selection of the head and secretary that would relate with both government and the council to pick another Oba the internal squabble has now been settled.

Before the conduct of the election the three Royal Houses argued that it was their turn to produce the head and secretary.

While the Adesida said it was its turn to produce the representatives of the Ruling House, the other two said the Adesida had been enjoying the collective wealth of the House for more than a century.

However, the Arosoye and Faturoti argued that since Adesida had occupied the throne of Deji of Akure for over a century, they should let go the throne for others who have not occupied it.

After much argument, the Royal Houses agreed that Arosoye who is the eldest should produce the Head while Faturoti who was the elder should be the Secretary.

Speaking after the election held at the registry of Akure South local government, Adesida said the election was free, fair and acceptable to all the Royal Houses.

According to him, “it is acceptable to all of us. All the nomination election was unanimously supported, that shows the unity in the ruling house. The advisory committee will monitor the movement of the executive committee of the Oba that will be installed.

“They would be like the elders that will be rectifying the problems whenever anything goes wrong. The executives will be permanent until another Oba is installed.”

He pleaded with the newly elected representatives of the Family to be of good behavior and hope that as soon as the state government gets back to the family, a new Deji would emerge within the next two months
