Antony Yeboah is furious with the performance of the African teams at the World Cup in South Africa. “Apart from Ghana, all the teams have failed, and I find that sad,†the former Bundesliga player told BILD.
“From a sporting point of view, this tournament is a disgrace for Africa.†Yeboah sees two main explanations for their failure – the intense pressure on the players during Africa’s first tournament, and the teams’ coaches.
“The European coaches add absolutely nothing. They don’t understand the players, and they don’t understand the mentalities of the countries.†Only Yeboah’s home nation of Ghana are still flying the flag for Africa in the tournament. “I am incredibly proud of Ghana.
They are a real team, they would all give their lives to win,†Yeboah added. They will have the chance to become the first African team to reach a World Cup semi_final when they take on Uruguay on Friday.
